Best of the series so far especially when i put faces to these characters from the TV show. this has become a guilty pleasure of mine.

Driving home late one night, Sookie finds a confused Eric running along the side of the road clad only in a pair of jeans. He has no recollection of who he is, so she puts him up for the day in the hidey hole that Bill made. It seems that there are some powerful witches in town and they want to take over. They've cast a spell on Eric and Pam has agreed to pay Sookie to keep him safe at her house where she discovers an entirely different side of Eric. In the meantime, Sookie's brother disappears and she finds herself aligned with the weres and vampires in an all-out battle against powerful (and evil) witches. A fun story that finds Sookie getting wrapped deeper and deeper into the lives of the Supes.

My favourite so far!

Charlaine Harris‘s Dead to the World is the fourth book in the Sookie Stackhouse southern vampire mystery series, a series that gets better and better. Sookie faces more obstacles in this novel, but mostly because there are new enemies in town — witches — and her brother has disappeared. These witches are stronger than the local Wiccans because they are shifters, possibly Weres, and drink vampire blood, which only makes them stronger.

Harris carefully weaves in the main plot and the subplot, while peppering her prose with ethical and emotional complications. All the while, readers are immersed in backwoods and old world atmosphere of Bon Temps. The dialogue between the characters is full of humor, and readers will enjoy the author’s sense of fun with shape shifters like Debbie Pelt whose names resemble their two-natured state.

Perhaps my favorite of the Sookie Stackhouse novels. I love Eric, and it is great to see who he is at the core.

2.5-3 stars.
Eye-rolling is strong on this one too.

I'm somewhere between a 3 and 4 on Dead to the World. I really liked where Eric's character is going in this book. Harris did a great job with character development and I hope she's able to weave together a convincing new personality for Eric that's somewhere between the old Eric and the new Eric.

I would've liked to see more of a story develop with Hallow's coven, but I also realize there was a lot going on in the book with Eric's amnesia, Jason going missing and Hallow's coven wreaking havoc over the city of Bon Temps. All in all, I thought it was a great read. I'm looking forward to reading more about Jason's expeditions as a were-panther and I'm still holding out hope for Sookie and Alcide, even if her relationship with Eric is as hot as Brangelina.

My Booktube

listen I'm sorry but this HIT. I didn't think I would like amnesiac Eric but I really did. And they handled the witch plotline way better than the TV show did (and the werepanthers at Hot Shot, seriously wtf was the TV show doing...).

I liked Sookie's interactions with everyone here and this book made me really realize that I just *like* being inside of Sookie's head. She's just a fun protagonist to follow around. And I liked that we are on book 4, and Sookie STILL isn't over her Grandma's death... you know like a normal person? It's just nice to see a character death still having effects on our characters almost 4 books later. Especially in this case as Sookie knew her grandma as her main guardian for most of her life, so it makes sense that she would be really thinking of her constantly.

my one "issue" is the fact that Sookie doesn't tell Eric everything that happened once he does get his memory back. Like COME ON JUST BE HONEST.

Pam scenes? loved them
Alcide scenes? loved them
Eric scenes? loved them
Debbie getting killed? loved it
