I really enjoyed this one. So far #3 and #4 are my favorites in the series.

This is one of my favorite books in the series; if you've read the first three books you have to continue on to this one. Eric looses his memory (and the majority of his personality) and becomes a wonderful and funny companion (and lover) to Sookie, while she investigates the disappearance of her brother, Jason, and is drawn into the confrontation of a new group of vampire-blood drinking Were witches. This book has every element and is a must for any fan of Sookie, and the Bible for Eric fangirls.

On reread, I have somewhat mixed feelings about this book. Because Amnesiac!Eric is my favourite Eric, which means this book is great. As does the fact that Sookie does a fair bit of arse kicking without needing to be rescued by a boyfriend type. But there's a lot of stuff that feels kind of filler-y and then the stuff that's actually relevant and advances the story feels rushed. We get introduced to Claudine, but she's basically dumped into the plot and explained in a half arsed way and then it's all worked out in later books.

I think my biggest problem was that once again, Sookie is magically attractive to literally every supe in the freaking story. Bill. Eric. Sam. Alcide. Calvin Norris. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. It goes on and on and on, and it was just a bit over the top. Add in the fact that Sookie can be kind of a pain in the arse narrator - how many times do we have to hear about how school was rough for her because of her telepathy so now she's self educated from ROMANCE NOVELS AND A WORD A DAY CALENDAR???? - and it fell somewhere in the middle of the field for me.

So yeah. My favourite Eric = win. But it felt a little rushed, and I basically gave zero fucks about Jason from start to finish.

People who are way more awesome than Bill: Eric, Sam, Alcide. I am really into this trend of Bill disappearing for entire books while Sookie hangs out with other more interesting men.

So glad Bill was out of the picture in this one! Still holding out hope for Alcide but an amnesiac Eric will work! Not sure how I feel about Jason but we'll see!

I am not a fan of Harris' writing. I do find her world interesting, but her writing is shallow and uninteresting.

Okay, this book has been the best one so far. Yay for more Eric!

Solid Sookie Stackhouse novel!

In this book, there's a lot more drama for poor Sookie. She and Bill are no longer an item (and he is not seen in the majority of the book) and she comes across an Eric who has been placed under a curse and does not remember himself. To top all of that off, her brother mysteriously disappears. Sookie finds herself falling for the much-altered, much-gentler Eric (who is by far not as much fun as the regular Eric) who greatly depends on her. Another set of supernaturals is introduced in this book: some witches, who are responsible for Eric's state of forgetfulness. The overall tone of the book was kind of depressing because so many things seemed to happen to Sookie at once that it was hard to effectively wrap your brain around one incident before the occurance of another and Sookie was not her usual cheerful self at all. However, the book was still an enjoyable read and I can't wait to skip off and read the next one.

An interesting read, got to follow the main character Sookie Stackhouse through more vampire trouble. As she had to get involved in helping out to protect someone from something bad happening.
