DNF'd halfway through. Just not interesting enough
Rating: 4/5
Loved it! Really loved it. Probably the best I've read of the series. But it's normal, since I'll love anything with so many Eric scenes in it! He's without a doubt my favourite character on the Sookie series and the one I want her to end up with.

In the fourth book of the Sookie Stackhouse series, Eric has lost his memory and Jason goes missing. It's up to Sookie to find the coven of evil witches that are responsible for these dastardly deeds.
Despite some very fascinating scenes involving Eric, the story seemed to drag on. A bit disappointing, but still fun.

7/10: I'm taking a little break from this until I finish my book club book. Because I'm a Bill fan and not an Eric fan I'm not enjoying this one as much but of course I have to trudge through so I know how things work out.
Btw, I definitely enjoy True Blood much more than the books. But since I don't have cable I need these to satisfy my curiosity.
7/13: I did quite a bit of reading today. I read about one hundred pages in Time Traveler's Wife and managed to finish this book; I probably had about one hundred and sixty pages to finish. I am glad I took a break and then finished this book. I'm happy with the way it ended and I have hope of the way the other books could go.
I think it is good for me to read two books at once while I'm reading this series, one serious one then then the next in the line.

Wow.
I really enjoyed this book. I didn't realize how much I would enjoy the Sookie Stackhouse series. Looking forward to the next one.

Having read a series of weightier tomes, I was ready for some fast-paced fun. This book certainly provides both: Quick & funny.
Let's be real. This series is nothing more than Twilight for the grown-up set. It's fluff. Dead to the World is more of the same smutty, cheesy, hilarious cotton candy. And my sweet tooth is craving more.
"Dead to the World" ist book #4 in the Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampire Mysteris by author Charlaine Harris.
Story:
When Sookie finds Vampire Sheriff Eric without any memories on the street she knows she is about to be involved in the vampire's affairs again - and her intention was to not be beaten up again! As if this wasn't enought after she had broken off with Bill, he is away in Peru and her brother Jason is missing. So she is to be alone with Eric, this nice, gently Eric who would do anything for her...
Characters:
I always liked Sookie and this book has proved one more time, what an interesting character she is. Telephatic, attractive but only been in a relationship once before (with a vampire) and now about to lose her heart to the one she knows is everything but loveable.Furthermore, I always had a thing for Eric. He's just a "cool, bad vampire guy" and so different than more traditional Bill. Nevertheless, I liked this "new" Eric, too. He's charming and I can understand Sookie, that she had difficulty to resist him.It was a pity Bill only appeard so short. He isn't my favourite character, but he belongs to the story and I hope to read more about him in the next book, even if he sank in my favour after "Club dead".Some of my favourite sidekicks were back and I think, they make this series so enjoyable and complex. Alcide, Bubba und Sam whom I like more and more. Even Pam is nice in some kind of way in this book :)
Writing:
The whole story is very complexe and they're so many mystical creatures I wonder how Harris stays on top of things. I remember, I had difficulty getting through book #2 of the series, but I read this one quite fast and there were no really boring parts, which is always a good thing to say. They story in this book had so many new characters and plots introduced, I wonder what is to come in the next 9 books :) Everything seems possible now.
I give 4 of 5 bottles of "TrueBlood" for "Dead as the world", because I really enjoyed it, but I think there is more to come. I'll probably start the next book soon :)

This fourth book in the Sookie Stackhouse series picks up right after the events in Dallas and Sookie's split with Bill. I like the way the author continues to branch out and show that there is more to the underworld of Sookie's community than we saw in the first book. The author shows us the qualms that Sookie has about some of the tasks she has to perform, as well; she doesn't just get used to all the crazy situations she gets thrown into. I don't think that a fan of the first three books will be disappointed.
