An insightful read, with some nice imagery and thought provoking ideas. I definitely enjoyed some parts more than others, and wasn’t sure how I felt about the ending, but overall a nice book!

Comme beaucoup, je n'ai jamais pu apprécié les classiques dont la lecture m'a été forcé à l'école.
This book keeps showing up on those "greatest books of all time" lists, and after reading it... why?? Maybe it's my fault for not looking into this book beforehand, but even though it starts off seeming like an adventure story about a quest for treasure, it ends up being a self-improvement parable about finding your "Personal Legend" where the real treasure was the friends we made along the way inside of you the whole time -_- Apart from that, the way it is written goes back and forth between in-your-face reminders that this is a self-help book and awkward storytelling. Here's a section from the last chapter of the book to give you an idea:
It’s true; life really is generous to those who pursue their Personal
Legend, the boy thought. Then he remembered that he had to get to
Tarifa so he could give one-tenth of his treasure to the Gypsy
woman, as he had promised. Those Gypsies are really smart, he
thought. Maybe it was because they moved around so much.
This book does not live up to the hype, and I would question anyone who says that it inspired them.
