I thought it was good! It drags in some areas but overall I liked it!

For some reason, Goodreads didn't log my 2015 review as a completion so I had to go digging in Reading Progress to fix dates because I didn't finish my first read a decade later :p
anyways. On this reread I noticed more references to era 1 as I'd previously noted but now they're fresher, ha. Likely due to Wheel of Time people seem to think of Sanderson as a "cleaner" author than say, GRRM but like other Mistborn novels this opens with violence and a LOT of people get shot and/or die, and due to there's an element of body horror as well.
Steris really comes into her own in this novel, becoming more than just a romantic (potential) rival, though if I recall it's really in [b:The Bands of Mourning|18739426|The Bands of Mourning (Mistborn, #6)|Brandon Sanderson|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1450134973l/18739426._SY75_.jpg|26616838] she shines (justifiably on the Chris McGrath cover).
Original 2015 review
Ah, Sanderson did it again, building political machinations on top of an already complex world. This reminded me that I REALLY need to do an original trilogy reread soon because there are many more references to characters from the old world, with a couple appearances by some...
I also noticed a subtle mention to the next book, the Bands of Mourning... which might be some kind of Feruchemical band? Hm.

The fact that Lessie was a kandra plant by Harmony is just a shattering twist. Not surprising, I suppose, since this is the realm of the gods, but man. Gonna take something significant to pull Wax out of this BSOD.I also noticed a subtle mention to the next book, the Bands of Mourning... which might be some kind of Feruchemical band? Hm.
