It was a bit soft on both fronts for me. It was nice to have a m/m that was softer than the average but I expected the fantasy aspect to be more intense to compensate, since fantasy m/m gets let off the hook most times because it's the sex and relationship that is the key point of the novel. It's a good book overall but I wish it had more depth in either one of its genres.

Loved the story, loved the dragons, but the characters didn't often make sense. Still, wouldn't mind the next installment.

Somehow I find it very lacking. It seems the author doesn't know much of court life and royalty instead she just uses it to set a scene without much substance.

SO FRICKIN' CUTE! I love this story and I'm hoping to be reading the sequel soon.

abandoned at 95 percent, because sometimes you can get over fade-to-black sex if there's a proper story going on, but not if the story makes hardly any sense and hinges on finger-wiggling sorcery and dumb secrets and very little else.

this publisher is dreadful. i am 0-for-5.

I don’t know; this was really basic.

From reading reviews I knew that this would only be an average book, but it has lots of the tropes I like in a book, so I got it anyway. And I was pretty much spot-on for my expectations. It's a pretty middle-of-the-road fantasy novel with some dragons, a prince, a plot to destroy the world, and magic jewelry. I'd complain that the character who was allegedly super-smart with strategy turned out to be oblivious to even the most simple of things relating to the plot, but if he hadn't been, there wouldn't have been much of a plot, so whatever.

Basically, I enjoyed it for what it was, but don't expect too much if you read it.
