What happened with the plot from the first book?!

SPOILERS⬇️

Omg I think Isolde and Adrian are now children. Isolde flew off the handle bc Adrian didn’t react how she wanted and sometimes even I was confused why she was upset! I don’t remember what Adrian did/said the one time, but it was enough for Isolde to destroyyyy her room and clothes and everything

Pacing dragged for me, the beginning I didn’t connect to any promises on where the story was leading. It felt more like passages in a diary would be. The characters lost their spark together. This felt more of an Isolde story than Adrian and Isolde as the series name would suggest. I get why Isolde might seem like a different character and might influence the different writing style, but Adrian feels as if he is a completely different character to me.

I devoured the first book and was hoping to love the second as much but it just wasn’t it for me. Usually I love scarlet st Clair’s writing but this book was just so all over the place with the flashbacks/memories of Yessenia. I know it was an important plot device but I wish she indicated that we were in a flashback because I kept having to reread stuff because I thought it was Isolde’s POV but it wasn’t. Also I love smut normally but where was the buildup like Adrian and Isolde would go from arguing to fucking  like every other chapter

Too many plot threads and devices and I straight up cannot connect with Isolde's logic in this book.
