3.5. FMC less annoying. Lots of character development. Unsure if I will read the next in series.

Overall I thought the book was decent. Though, I must say, it wasn’t as good as the first in the series. I did still enjoy the storyline, but thought it got a bit messy. Also, I think the main character is meant to be the amazing character growing into her role and who she really is but as the story went on I just got more and more annoyed with her. I do still think the storyline is creative and clever, and there were a few moments where I was surprised by it. But there were also moments where it felt messy and I was just wondering where the author was trying to go with it.

And again, I will say this book is very spicy… Spicier than the first.

Bummed about this sequel. I devoured the first book on a bachelorette getaway and was excited to read the next. However, the POV shifts are jarring as they come too few and far between. I think Adrian had 3 chapters of the 25+. Perhaps this book was meant as set up for the next one, with delving into other character’s backstories, but I found myself not caring. The plot wasn’t plotting and the spice wasn’t spicy.

Thanks to Tantor Audio and NetGalley for the advanced audiobook!

This book picks up right after the ending of KoBB. Isolde and Adrian have to fight battles on many fronts while also balancing their relationship.

I wanted to love this book but I just didn't. It definitely feels like the second book in a series. Lots of action but somehow it still feels like nothing happens. Just a ton of world building with smut interspersed with little to no connection to the plot. The audiobook has a bonus chapter at the end that is a winter holiday special.

The cover is gorgeous! The narrators are the same as the first book. No complaints! I can hear some feedback occasionally but it doesn't ruin it for me.
