I will always love the story of Peter Pan. Even though, it is a rather depressing tale when you think about it. Peter, the boy who would not grow up, is only that way because when he tried to return to his mother, she had moved on and had another child in his place. Sad. But all in all a beautiful tale about the innocence, imagination and spirit of children, that lasts only for a precious moment until they are forced to grow up.

Be forewarned that this book definitely is written from a Victorian worldview that is uncomfortable (at the least) to be immersed in. But if you can hold your nose through that, the story makes up for it with fun, adventure, and charm. Definitely magical, but also very dated. I recently tried to read one of the Peter and the Starcatchers books and I found it very dull in comparison.

Se que es un clásico que tiene muchísimos fans en el mundo, pero creo que no logró envejecer bien. Todo el libro se basa en una ideología tan estereotipada del rol de la mujer, que terminó haciéndome enfadar. Al final hizo que todas aquellas cosas tiernas y bonitas que tenía la historia... terminaran siendo opacadas.
Está muy bien escrita y hay frases que son preciosas. Pero... A pesar de todo... No es el libro que esperaba.

To begin with, this edition is gorgeous. Who doesn't love colourful simple illustrations and little interactive elements?
I had never read Peter Pan before, but I knew it was a little bit darker than the Disney version we all know. Boy, was it! The amount of killing in this book for children is a little scary. Not to mention it is quite racist. It was written in the early 1900's but still.
Regardless, it was beautiful and bittersweet in the end.
It's worth the read yourself, or if you are of the sort it would make a great story to read to children at bedtime. Maybe they will end up flying away to the Neverland for a bit too.
