This was a tragic, magical, sad, dark, and bittersweet book. I never seen the movies so I was expecting it be cute and not as tragic. While reading it, I felt so bad for the lost boys and Peter losing their mothers. It would be interesting to read this from a psychological view especially with Peter's selfishness and hatred of grown ups.

It's almost a bit dated due to the times so it felt strange and disappointing to read Wendy being pushed to be a mother and how her descendants share the same fate. The ending about Peter forgetting everything was so sad as well.. For some reason, Peter gave me the eeby jeebies due to his controlling nature but I enjoyed the book while acknowledging its flaws.

Anyways being in Neverland was whimsical and it was adventurous. The illustrations added charm and helped to picture what was going on.

This is barely a children's book. I can see why few children read it. The adaptations are a lot more child-friendly, the book has a very high vocabulary and is downright creepy in many places, in a very Freudian way. That said, I'd recommend it to any adult looking for some light reading. Or who thinks Tinkerbell is charming.

I liked the book better than the disneyfied version of the story. If my memory serves, the book allows much more for Neverland to be entirely in the imagination, what with the boys and the "redskins" changing sides, and Wendy playing at being the mother. Tim Curry was pretty cool as the narrator of the audio book.

Charming, though the language is a little hard to follow for little children listening along.

Really loved this book & so did Margo (at almost 4 yrs) our version had great pictures on every other page.

like so many other stories that we've seen or read the "Disney versions" of, it was lovey to go back to the original story.
