I don’t normally love short stories but I love these, they’re all entertaining and whimsical yet a bit dark and eerie.
slow-paced
I feel like this is a generous rating but some of these made me laugh and genuinely enjoy. A lot were repetitive and slow. Considering it’s from the 1800s, makes sense.

Leaving unrated bc it’s just feels weird giving a collection takes which is basically folk stories a star rating but this is a lovely edition & I recommend reading for just how deranged a lot these stories actually are.

This was part of my random picks series.
Choosing a book from my bookshelf using a random number.
This was a long read. It took me well over a month to read. There are, I would say, a core base of around a dozen unique stories and the rest are based loosely around those themes which grew tiresome after a while.
That being said it was great to see the, slightly darker, origins of some of our classics like Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella and Rumblstiltskin.
I'm glad I read it... I won't be in a hurry to read again though!

Sí, posiblemente los originales son más interesantes, pero algo de "finales felices" no es malo de vez en cuando.
