3.5 stars, it was an engaging and well rounded read for the subject matter. A good balance of grit and emotion.

The action in this book?!- five stars!! I had a bit of an issue with the writing style. It just wasn’t my personal favorite. I do wish there was a bit more character development- Especially so that I could understand Polly a bit more. I was unsure of her age so many times and it interfered with a bit of my understanding of her character. Those two things really brought down the rating for me. But the journey was enjoyable!

Adored this. The whole white pride underbelly of prison is well done here, Polly is fabulous, and her dad may have an issue with staying on the right side of the law, but he looks out for his own. This came to me through a recommendation, and it was just what I needed to read. My last book took me days of slogging, but I stayed up way too late and finished this one in no time at all.

It's hard to believe this is a first novel. It's dark and scary and I couldn't stop reading it. One day eleven year-old Polly's convict dad shows up at school. She thinks he is kidnapping her and that he broke out of prison and killed her mom. The truth is actually worse in many ways.

I'm down to read whatever Jordan Harper writes next.

Someone pick my jaw up off the floor! Gritty, raw, page turner. Completely new territory for me - an ex-con 'kidnaps' his daughter to save her from a hit that has been put out on him and his family for dealings that occurred while on the inside. There's language and violence and it is in your face. But this is not a gratuitously violent book, the violence makes sense. The relationships and character developments in the story are genuine, but surprising at the same time and you will not expect the ending. All told, a great way to spend 257 pages.

I don't have much to say about She Rides Shotgun, it's simply quite good.

It is stylish, gritty and remarkable. It gave me The Last of Us vibes for obvious reasons and it was fun through and through. I don't think it reinvents the genre or it's a masterpiece or anything but it does what it sets out to do and it does it very well.

I probably won't wait for 3 years to read Jordan Harper's next novel when it comes out.

It reminded me of “No country for old men” with an 11 year old turn psychopath.
Not something I would normally read, but wow...wow

This book was genuinely amazing. It was dark but also hopeful, and both the action and the characters felt so real. I loved Polly, Nate, and the short parts from Park and Charlotte were also great. Definitely an amazing father-daughter version of Bonnie and Clyde.
