I loved 90% of this book and then we got to the big "misunderstanding" between the two love interests that's in every romance novel, the author did Stella's character dirty by making her sooooo stupid when we find out that Luka has felt the same way about her for years. (Not that it wasn't obvious the entire time.) The entire misunderstanding on Stella's end made literally no sense. At first she can't believe that he loves her and then she just wants to be friends so that they don't risk their friendship over a romantic one, and then WAIT - it's back to "he couldn't possible feel that way about me!" The back and forth was exhausting and not at all believable because Stella isn't THAT STUPID. I was gonna give the book 4 stars until that ridiculous debacle. So 3 stars it is.

Overall, it was a super cute holiday read and I loved both Stella's and Luka's characters. I don't usually care for friends-to-lovers romances, but this one was done well and I enjoyed most of my time reading it. Almost - ya know - except for what I stated above.

I’m going to love her in all the quiet ways, the slow ways, the loud and obnoxious ways. My heart has been moving steadily in that direction since she fell down the steps of a hardware store, right into my arms.

I can name romance authors who should always write two POV books on fingers of my one hand. And B. K. Borison is one of them. I NEED HER TO REWRITE THIS WHOLE BOOK AGAIN BUT FROM LUKA'S POV RIGHT NOW!

Ok so, I loved this book, it was fun, the protagonist had a really nice chemistry and it was believeable that they were actually best friends! I loved that they seemed to be in their early 30s/ late 20s, the second characters were cool and the fake relationship promp is one of my favorites for sure.
Luka was a delight from star to finish, he didn't take anyones bullshit, he COMMUNICATED! and Definitely he KNEW what he wanted, and went for it when the oportunity approached him about being a fake boyfriend, and we love him for that... but hear me out... what in the word were those last chapters? it was so unnecesary drama and SO FRUSTRATING! that girl HAD problems, I just don't get why would she savotage her life in EVERY way, each one of her decision was questionable from romantic to her economical ones! she just kept messing up her life more and more for no reason... her bff and lover for the past week tells her he wans a relationship w/her because he loves her? and is interested in a serious relationship with her? not just a fiends w/benefit thing? ... and she just..says no? for....what? because she just does not believe him?... girl...wtf, it felt just like the author NEEDED that extra drama, a mandatory fallout between the main couple, and it makes me kinda mad bacause the beauty of this book until that point was that they communicated!!! when a problem was comming they just said "wait... what?" AND ACTUALLY ASKED THE RIGHT QUESTION TO CLEAR IT OUT!, (although that was more a Luka thing soo... Ok I guess...) and not just did she fucked up her possibilities of being happy in a relationship, but she also self sabotage the contest that would help her save the farm?? her job?? the one where she is the owner and has multiple coworkers and employees? ...oh God... AND ALSO she not wanting to take legal repercussions against the man that maliciously tried to ruin said farm so she would sell it?? when the acts that he did are illegal? property damage hello????....
I don't know I just felt that the protagonist was just a really goodie goodie and oh so kind and understanding and self sacrificing at times... and that it's not realistic, and it does not make necesarilly a good female character... so yes...
The relationships were great, the overall story funny and entretaning, Luka was by far, the best thing of the book for me, it was so good until all tho whole mess at the end,, but well, good chritsmas read if not a bit infuriating at the end!.
