Another easy listen by Susan Mallory. This book about 3 sisters and their relationships had lovable characters and an easy to follow plot.

I enjoyed this story. I would love to come back to these characters and see how they are doing in a year or two. :)

This was a cute story about 3 sisters and how they’ve fallen in and out of love. While not everyone got a HEA with someone, they all ended up with something they love. It was a bit of a dry story for me, so I’m thankful to have listened to it via audiobook!

I thought that this story was written very well. It was people's everyday lives, yet I was so absorbed in the story, it was quite enjoyable. I liked seeing these women's characters development and how they grew closer together over time. I think the only thing I didn't like was the subtle comments of women hating each other, which I recognize is a part of this era and writing, not just the author. Overall, I loved it and getting to see how entertaining "ordinary life" can be to read and experience.

Very good book! I love how Finola realized that she doesn’t need Nigel to be happy, and that she would make it, that she got a better job on a better show, I love how Zennie jumps into a huge decision and it all ends up okay, and Daniel if only Daniel would’ve just stole the girl, told Ali how he felt in the beginning. (Would’ve totally changed Ali’s story butttttt Ali needs someone who loves her and cares and that’s Daniel)

Enjoyable. A stand alone novel, so you don't have to worry about finding a Mallery book in the middle of a series.

California Girls was my the first Susan Mallery book I've read and I am officially a fan now!! This book tells the story of three sisters who have all experienced a breakup at the same time. While all of these women are very different, their heartbreak unites them and they become closer. This was a quick read, can't wait to read more from Susan Mallery.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC.

This was a sweet and easy read and I typically really enjoy Susan Mallery’s books. Unfortunately this one didn’t really do it for me. I truly hated the mom character (turning ever tragedy and hardship her daughters faced into her own woe of not having married daughters having her grandchildren) and some of the characters were so focused on relationships that their identity and development as characters were lost. And the “lesbian” jokes about the career focused Zennie were kind of a lackluster attempt to joke about a woman not focused on settling down with a man (or partner) while finding her own path.
Heartwarming? Sure. Comforting? Yes. Not my favorite read of 2023, but this also won’t stop me from continuing to binge read the rest of Mallery’s repertoire.
