This book was just ok.
I loved the puffins, I loved the old lady book club called book bitches and the small town shenanigans. It was the best and strongest part if the story but that’s not the main focus so it wasn’t enough to bump it higher in my ratings.
The timeline and pacing was weird too. It felt both super quick and like it was being dragged on and
I wish I loved it but I didn’t.
More specifics:
I found the main character’s (Rosie’s) story line to just be kind of flat and repetitive. that it made me super irritated in the end. We literally go through the same realizations at least 4 times so when the end of the book comes it just kind of an exasperating “finally!” Instead of an exciting one. And it makes me sad bc she si have a lot of fascinating history it just wasn’t really explored well enough to get the reader/listener to care as much as I know we were supposed to.
I did like Alexander for the most part but lowkey some things he said came from a place of misogyny but were never addressed or corrected. I wish I took notes in what part specifically but I know there were at least 2 instances that I was like bruh why would you say that?
Also really didn't like the narrator for Rosie. Every sentences sounded the same and ended with like a strong period- does that make sense? lol it was like listening to Alexa with a spritz if del human personality.
Kept me busy while I worked so I had to give it a start for that at least. The other star is for the old lady’s.

Super cute but didn’t feel like the “magick” added much of anything to the story and wish it had been left out or explored more.
