So so good
On one hand I just could not put this down. On the other hand I just didn't want the story to end. So I was trying to read it as slowly as possible. I'd wait until the entire series is out to start these books. They are just to good

This book didn’t hit as much as the previous three, maybe it’s because I’m not in the same place mentally but I was hard for me to get through... like 7 months hard to get through. Also Quinn is really really annoying. I hate people who can’t listen to sense and act reckless for no reason, think they are all powerful and kill people for fun like for literally no other reason than because they can ._. My bad I just described Quinn Darkova.
Also though I loathe the term... why tf is Lazarus simping for her?!? She literally does not listen. Brings NOTHING to the table. Causes him more trouble than she helps him. Puts his life work at risk (It’s notable to add she doesn’t seems to fw him like that either) ... I could go on, usually authors write girls being senseless in the face of love, but in a interesting stray from the status quo Kelly Carpenter flips that on its head. Lazarus came into the story with a goal and a plan (mind you it wasn’t noble) but I hate when characters lose themselves in love. You were someone before whoever you met, and you’ll be someone after them

This was another great book. I did not see the ending coming. I wonder how Risk can bring her back.

Lazarus finally grew a pair and did what was right only to have Quinn pay for his earlier stupidity in the end

We left the last book in this series with Quinn riding off with her sister Risk, after saving her from their parents.
She returns to Lazarus after 5 long months and we are kept in the dark about what she was doing for so long, she seems darker and unhinged.
Lazarus is now King, and is having trouble dealing with the disgruntled blood heirs as they believe the throne is their right, even though Lazarus is the chosen heir.
Quinn is out of control and coming into her own enjoying dishing out her justice, it was hard to feel this was justified considering the circumstances, her and Lazarus dance around each other, teasing their desires but never fully admitting to themselves what they want.
Risk is also a loose cannon, after years of abuse she is learning to be a part of the world again, and struggling with all the changes to her life, together the Darkova sisters are a force to be reckoned with!
Lazarus and Quinn finally admit their feelings and their relationship evolves into something new, this has been a long time coming and it was super satisfying to finally have some recognition of all the hints from the last books!
As Quinn finally comes into her full power and unleashes it on their enemies, it backfires terribly and leaves everyone reeling from what has happened.
The twist at the end totally threw me, I LOVED IT!
