Amazing book. Great job of interlacing facts and fiction. I learned more about WWII reading this book than I have in a long time. Looking forward to Follet's third book if the trilogy!

I resisted reading this book for a while. Mainly because I wasn't sure that I really cared enough about the characters of the first book in the trilogy to read about their offspring. I found this used, and grabbed it. I am glad I did. Follett has such a strong ability to create a vivid and interesting universe. There were a few strings that I didn't like as much and some of the characters were pretty close to the principles in the previous book.
I am always impressed by the skill Follett has in getting his characters to be at historic events without them seeming forced or awkward. I enjoyed the book to the point that I am going to look for the third book in the series sooner than a year after I've read this book.

I loved reading this book. I have not read the first installment yet, but will gladly. I enjoyed the history being told through the eyes of his characters.
Like all his work that I have read, the book contains some graphic sexual contents.

Enjoyed this as much as the first book, part drama, part history lesson.
Definitely not as skillfully crafted as the first book in the trilogy, or other Ken Follett novels. I had trouble keeping the characters straight, and didn't feel attached to them, perhaps because as the 2nd generation, there were simply more--too many. Still, I enjoyed Follett's portrayal of Europe and America in World War II through the eyes of characters loyal to or living in the major western powers: the Soviet Union, Germany, England, and the U.S.
