I picked this up because it was at the library and I recognized the title but I didn't really know what I was getting myself into. I thought it was going to be more of a spy novel, and instead it was a work on war and love and overly-theoretical people who get in over their head.

Fowler is a news correspondent during the Vietnam war and Pyle is a CIA agent sent to promote democracy.
While the synopsis says this is a book about the war it's mostly focused on the two men and the woman they are fighting over and she's not even really a character, she's more an idea that floats through every once in a while.  This was kinda disappointing after my previous from this author.
