honestly didn't do much for me. i think part of it is 'cause it doesnt translate to audio very well, as it is written in verse. i did enjoy the little twist at the end, but i felt zero connection to the characters.

This book was nothing what I expected...

I loved, loved, loved Sani and Moth and that plot twist??? That got me and now I have to go stare at the wall for five minutes and throw the book at the wall after 'cause what that fuck just happened? (Can't do that though 'cause it's a library book LOL).

I had little to no hopes and picked it up simply 'cause it was a short read (free verse!) but it's one of the books I highly recommend now so go read it. If this is my last book of the year, I am truly glad it is (Nah, lemme go read the sequel of Stuffed. Yes, the erotic pillow romance-).

Anyways.... happy reading and a very Happy New Years to you all! <33

Type of read: Commuter Read

What made me pick it up: The cover art caught my eye and it's been a while since I've read lyrical/poetry. Makes my heart happy.

Overall rating: Beautifully written. 'Me (Moth)' is a hauntingly intimate story of finding where you belong in this great big world, even if it's not the answer you want to accept. I one hundred percent recommend 'Me (Moth)' and I feel like having enjoyed it in the audio version, with narration by the author, was a great way to get the entire story.

"Everything I wore was borrowed, even my time felt borrowed."

"It's hard to be what everyone wants when living feels like haunting."

Oh wow. Ok, I thought the book was boring at first but there was such a twist at the end that made my jaw go to the floor and have tears form in my eyes.

This book blew my mind. I need to read it again. (But first I need to process what I just read.)

This book was going to be 3 stars until the ending. I can’t say I understood everything that happened in this book because it’s an unfamiliar culture to me and it was very deep, but it was poetic and philosophical and beautiful. The ending made me retreat into myself and think long and hard about my life choices. The ending was sad but I think necessary. I was not ready to have this many emotions over this book.

I loved the way they handled Sani’s depression and Moth’s “survivor’s” guilt. McBride handled real world harsh topics in a very accurate delicate way.
