I always love learning about other people's traditions. This novel in verse didn't disappoint. I loved the style and learning about Hoodoo and parts of Navajo culture. I did not see the twist at the end!
This was a random "Halloween" suggestion from my local library. It's beautiful in its poetry, and the plot has an ethereal, gauzy quality. Easy to digest and enjoy, I am excited to read more McBride.
This book broke me in the best possible way. An easy read, an interesting narration style, and beautiful characters.

This book certainly is abstract. I am sure I would enjoy it more if I took more time to dissect each poem and section. The twist-ending was executed well. I think this book could be studied with "Root Magic" and "Monday's Not Coming."
