loved it.

I love this series so much, I put off reading them because I know I won't want it to end, and the wait for the next book is excruciating.
I love the world and characters that Anne Bishop created here.

I can see why people called this installment slow.. a lot of it was preparing and gathering supplies.. but I enjoyed every second.
I love these books so much that I will willingly read about the mundane things just to be in this world a second longer.

Simon and Meg are still slow burn, but there was something at the end that moves them along a little further.

the elders, Namids teeth and claws.. man they can be terrifying. we were introduced to a couple more species and they were just as interesting as the rest.

again.. loved it.

****4.5****

The half-star down was just because there wasn't enough Meg in this book, nor enough Simon. This series has a great secondary cast, and I adore them, but this book felt a bit scattered, because Meg and Simon seemed to make up only about 40% of it.

That said, the story was spectacular, the series is spectacular, and if you haven't been reading it, you should be.

Very good book! Many years ago the "Others" allowed humans to rent land from them to live but there were certain limitations to the agreement including staying on the land that they were assigned and not encroaching on the land that was just for the "Others." In the past, the humans understood that they must keep the pact or there would be serious repercussions. Many humans have forgotten to fear the "Others" and believe that the land should all belong to them. They feel that many resources including food and gold and in the lands that do not belong to them. There are humans that still want to work together and understand the reasons for the rules.... they do not want to die terrible deaths! This book follows the repercussions of breaking the pact. It is fast paced, exciting and a little scary.

It also looks at ways for the blood profits to break away from their cutting addiction yet still give their prophecies.

The next book should be very interesting and maybe I will finally get what I have been waiting for!

I don’t know. Nothing really happened. I was bored for a lot of it. Why are there so many conversations about real estate? And yet I finished it. There’s barely any development with Meg and Simon until the last few minutes of the book. Do with that what you will…
