I enjoyed this morbid little read that I listened to on a road trip. The one issue I had was the cheating. That's just a no for me and I went into this not knowing anything about the story, so it's on me. I loved everything else about this story though. It's macabre, dark and moody, just like my soul. I definitely suggest giving it a read, or listen on audible for free without using a credit.

This was weird, and I'm not entirely sure in a good way. There was a parallel universe/ afterlife, a Victorian spirit wanting her to commit suicide to be with him because "insta-love," and a no longer exciting marriage. I loved the atmosphere and premise of this story. The whole thing feels rushed though. I did like the ending as much as I could without loving the short story. The theme "Of choose yourself and not change yourself for others," was a nice twist.

The feel of this short story was interesting and I wish it was longer in order to give the characters more time to be shown.

It was good but was missing a twist for me.

Loved the premise and thought it was a great short audio story until the very end. I liked the message but felt it was too abrupt and missing something.

A very short story about reflecting on and appreciating what you have in life.

This was an enjoyable listen. Short and to the point with an interesting setting.

However, I felt like this was almost too to the point. The meaning or message in this is super blatant… it’s a good message, and it was kind of fun to see it played out in this very stark matter. But if you’re looking for subtlety or meaning that’s expertly, subtly woven into the narrative, this really isn’t that.

I also wanted to learn more about the setting! Or live in it a little more. I’d love an entire book dedicated to a woman waking up in a kind of shadowy purgatory with the different characters that inhabit it. Alas, with the short nature of this, we don’t really get it. It still felt real, I just wanted more.

Overall, a fun quick listen if you like ghosts and old-timey things and messages of empowerment for women. Just go in expecting a short, to the point short story vs an intricate novella or the like.
