most Boy book to exist. awful cishet mindset, so many instances of “i can save her” and even asserting that a confident girl who laughs so much is incapable of having trauma. LMAO. writing isn’t even all that? tells rather than shows and he treats the reader as if they’re stupid. this is my first dnf book as i carry sm guilt for putting books down but holy fuck this protagonist is completely insufferable in an accidental kind of way that hints at the audience that it’s really the author’s ego coming through rather than any character, and some plot events unfold that feel unnecessary to the storyline as a whole. also obvious lack of knowledge in mental health studies despite the protag being a therapist. lazy work. literally awful. i would give this book zero stars if i could.

ngl I predicted the twist. I have no idea how I’m going to rate this book because my mind can’t settle on which star to press.
