I am disappointed that this book isn’t worth the hype surrounding it. How the male author writes in first person as a woman is very off-putting to me.

Very intriguing at the onset, but it the intrigue quickly wears off and the story is propelled along by Gone Girl-esque diary entries from Alicia and asynchronous storytelling from Theo's perspective. It's a good read for those who really like flawed, unreliable narrators, but the twist is less of a twist by the end and more of a "well, we FINALLY got there" kind of feeling.

And I think the book could've been shorted by perhaps a hundred pages or so. Watching Theo's descent into a YOU kind of stalker is interesting, but if I hadn't been listening to the audiobook version and just letting it kind of play in the back, I'm not sure I would've actively picked up this book again and again to finish it.

Overall a fairly entertaining read!

what a fantastic book. i couldn‘t put it down!!!! i had several moments where i was like „okay, i know where this is going“ but NO it‘s like i was given a hint that was immediately disproven, then another, another and another
just read it, damn it.
loved the greek influence, as well

I caught a snowflake. I watched it disappear, vanish from my fingertip. I smiled. And I went to catch another one.

I really enjoyed this story! It was definitely fast-paced and interesting. I especially liked how this novel brought in some Greek tragedy and art. It wasn’t quite a favourite for me for a few reasons. First, I couldn’t quite wrap my head around the setting. I couldn’t place the time period and The Grove just felt very dull. It didn’t add to the novel in anyway. The second reason I didn’t love it has to do with how it ended.
there is a huge plot twist at the end which reveals a lot about Theo! Everything was well explained and connected enough but I wasn’t fully convinced that Theo was capable of destroying Alicia like that. He didn’t totally strike me as that type of obsessive psychopath, he just seemed like a slightly creepier than average guy. I guess the point of a plot twist is not to see it coming but this one just wasn’t convincing enough.

Overall, I would recommend The Silent Patient to anyone who enjoys psychological thrillers or anyone looking for a fast paced read!
