3.4 AVERAGE

It has been years since I've read this author. Book was good, not fabulous. Enjoyed Delaney's search for her parents.

Pretty light, quick read. Not super suspenseful and I've heard lots about Mary Higgins Clark - this is the first book of hers that I've read. Wanted something light, though, so no real complaints.

As Time Goes By is a quick, easy read from the ‘Queen of Suspense’. Suspenseful, however, it isn’t. Clark tells the story of Betsy Grant, on trial for murdering her husband Ted, himself slowly declining due to the effects of the early onset of Alzheimer’s. Simultaneously we are introduced to TV news journalist Delaney, desperately seeking the truth about her birth mother, who was 17 when she gave her baby up for adoption. There is nothing of a surprise in this novel - in fact, the direction it is heading is clear from the first few chapters. Recurrent characters Alvirah and Willy Meehan step in to lend a meddling hand, but really they just feel like filler for what is an already short read.

I’ve been a fan of Clark for many years but feel that in a market dominated by formulaic thrillers ‘with a twist’ she needs to really pull something out of the bag to secure that crown on her head once more.

5 star - Perfect
4 star - i would recommend
3 star - good
2 star - struggled to complete
1 star - could not finish

3,5* seria justo.

Mary Higgins Clark is my new Agatha Christie. I definitely gonna read more of this authors books this year. She's underrated my god and she has such a huge collection of those masterpiece works.

After the first 7 consecutive chapters opened with bland character descriptions I stopped reading.

This "thriller" revealed every twist in the first fifty pages. If you like good mysteries, do not read this book.
