Resigned to her circumstances in an arranged marriage, Emilia Varros wants to make just one decision for herself. Slipping her bodyguard, she heads to the casino in search of a one-night stand.
The attraction between Emilia and Shaw Grant is instant, but with marriage imminent, she leaves the next morning without a backward glance.
A twist of fate brings them back together. It also brings action, spice, and an exciting start to BJ’s new series.
I did find myself frustrated with Shaw on several occasions. However, the storyline and other characters (read: Luca) kept me entertained and engaged enough that he didn’t negatively effect my overall feelings.

Spice in the prologue? YES, PLEASE! This man's mouth! I'm gonna need a cold shower!
This book was fantastic. I loved that it switched up the typical innocent girl gets dragged into the Mafia world to innocent man getting dragged into the Mafia world. And Shaw's transformation into a true member of the family? *chef's kiss*
I won't lie, I lost count of the number of times I wanted to throat punch this man. But I absolutely love him. Emi was amazing and didn't take his bullsh!t. But she did it in a way where Shaw had no idea.
Loved the cameos from the O'Connell crew. I was super excited when I realized they were in the same world. Can't wait to see what happens with the rest of the STORM crew!

TROPES:
- 11 year age gap
- Mafia princess/billionaire hero
- Forced marriage
- Accidental/surprise pregnancy
My first book by this author and after the release of her latest book yesterday, I thought I'd ought to give this one a go before I dove into Luca's story. Safe to say it did not disappoint!
The only negative thing I'd have to say about this is that the characters can be irritating sometimes, but I understand that it has to be that way for the story to be able to take full effect.

Not going to lie Shaw is a bit of a 💩 head 🤣
I've recently binge read the secrets and lies series and loved the antics that the o'connell's get up to. I was looking forward to see how this new series would play out and link in with the other mafia families. Shaw and Emi seem to have a connection from the first moment they cross paths. So much so that shaw is still thinking about her months later, even when he's back with his ex. His world is turned upside down by the hurricane that is luca vorros. His vengeance is swift and unrelenting. Emi and shaw have no choice but to submit to his whims and demands. Emi just wanted a life with love and support and thought her one chance to choose her future caused a chain reaction that caused pain and suffering to not only herself but to the ones she loved and the ones that hated her. I enjoyed the bond of the storm boys. I really am intrigued by Reed. He gives me Oscar vibes and can't wait for his story. This book was a great start to a new series.
Well, I can easily admit my addiction to BJ Alpha books and I am not ashamed. Shaw was a different kind of MMC than BJ’s other heroes in a way that he was not THAT big of an antagonistic or obnoxious alpha-hole except when he is in the bedroom with his “good girl.” There were times I have really wanted to slap the guilt off of his face when he is faced with his ex Lizzy but that’s because he is actually an inherently good guy. Most importantly, the intimate scenes were panty melting to say the least and there were lots of it ❤️❤️❤️. I can’t wait to read the other characters’ stories in the Storm Enterprise Books.
Another insta-fucking (excuse my french)
P.s to self: plz stop adding books to your TBR from booktok recommendations, 6/10 times it's horrible and you don't even remember adding them

DNF 22%. This book was awful - insane over -fetishisation of a virgin female lead, terrible world building for both the mafia and billionaire side, and weirdly mis-characterised leads. Why was the corporate billionaire more like a mafia villain than the mafia characters??? Why was his goal to repeatedly make her bleed from unconsentually violent sex??? Nothing made sense, would not recommend.

This was not a good book.
I thought the FMC was a mafia princess who wouldn’t let lots of things get to her bc that’s how she appeared at The beginning of the book. But once she got pregnant/slash married to that a**hole, she let him walk all over her like it was nothing.
And him, he was just red flag on red flag. He was a really ahole and I’m actually sad that they got a HEA because the FMC would have been better off without him.
+ he must have had a bipolar disorder or something because he changed his mind like every 5 minutes and it didn’t occur to him how he was hurting the FMC.
1.5 stars because I still finished the book they did have some good time.
