This book was so well done. It was so clever and the flipping back and forth between past and present was so fun in the way it alluded to what would happen if you could remember what the girls said.

Jennifer Lynn Barnes is that author whose work I will always read. I bought this book and it has been sat on my shelf for a very long time. After reading The Inheritance Games I was very excited to start this series.
I didn’t love this book as much I loved the Inheritance Games. It took a while for me to get fully emerged into the storyline however once I was in, I was LOCKED in. I was determined to find out why the girls were locked in the jail cell and whether they had succeeded in arresting the Senator.
I liked the debutante storyline to this book, although I feel like it didn’t really divulge into the world of debutantes. I loved the relationship between the girls and how quickly they all became best friends.
The moral of the importance of family and how blood is thicker than water is always an interesting take to a storyline. The plot twists, although not all of them, were shocking and were not always predictable! The final plot twist, Sawyer finding out who her true dad is, did throw me for a loop!
Although not my favourite, I did enjoy this book and look forward to picking up the sequel! 3.75⭐️
