Sweet and funny and warm and lovely. An antidote to the grimdark stuff out there (comics, reality, take your pick) that doesn't ignore that darkness does exist. This book was a joy and pleasure to read. If you like The Adventure Zone, Cooking Mama, Welcome to Night Vale, or Nailed It!, this is the graphic novel for you.

Wow!
This made me feel things. Good things, bad things, all the things!
The story was really good and the characters were so relatable.
Unfortunately the art is not good. It's very clunky and (for me at least) got distracting at times due to how plain it was. I think this would be a solid 5/5 star read if the art was actually good.
Although the art wasn't good, the characters really made this amazing.
This is definitely one of my favorites!

I never thought I would find myself in comic-form, yet here I am. If you wondered what I look like, look no further than Brave Chef Brianna. She's got fluffy hair, short, and has a body like a milkmaid. This was recommended by NerdBurger and I liked the cover. This was a cute premise and somewhat strange reading experience seeing myself mirrored in the pages. I would love to move to Monster City but I wouldn't want my own restaurant. I would prefer working in the Monster City library blowing off the dust of as many enchanted tomes as possible. I like the artwork and unique storyline. I wish it wasn't a complete series and there were more of Brianna's adventures to enjoy. It was delightful, delicious, and I sighted my doppelganger.

This graphic novel was cute and it had some good messages in it. I try to read and support media that has a positive representation of plus-size women, and this graphic novel did. It touches on a couple of subjects (like prejudice) with a bit of a heavy hand, specifically when it comes to overcoming said subjects.

Can't. Just can't.

Brianna having self-doubt and trying to deal with that and grow would be a great story. Especially if it focused on the cooking more.

However, this comic felt wrong. Brianna moves into the monster city, disregards the rules and customs of the monsters there. Serves food to monsters that have sugar in it after being told those monsters don't eat sugar. It felt like giving non-kosher food to someone that ate kosher or giving a Vegetarian a dish with meat and not telling them. The villain is someone who is upset because Brianna disregards the customs essentially and taking away from monster owned businesses.

The monsters are forced into this city as well. The prejudice against them is prevalent in the community. That Brianna who comes from a rich cooking empire just moves in and decides to make a business there because she can. The audacity.

Very cute

Did I just read a comic about a woman in a monster city and really enjoy it? Yes. The answer is yes.

The art is great! Very cute, and I loved the visual interpretation of self-doubt/anxiety.
However.
The main conflict of the book really reads as "the oppressed should forgive their oppressors" and "it's okay to disrespect someone else's culture if you do it for the 'right' reasons," and that left a bad taste in my mouth. :/
