This was so completely unnecessary and yet so immensely entertaining. I will not deny that Jennifer's writing is problematic, some of her books more so than others, but damn if it isn't enjoyable. I am so going to hell for the amount of problematic books I've already read in the past few years.
Good for Jasmine to make Dez work for the right to be her forever man!
adventurous
challenging
funny
medium-paced
carino.

Love this series - my only complaint is that the novella is too short! I want more =)

Gargoyles and demons and romance? Yes, please!
This spicy little novella is a really quick fun read. The spice is excellent there's just enough mystery to keep you engaged in the plot and it sets you up for reading the next three in the series pretty well. Spoiler alert, the next three in the series are not about the couple that you read about in this novella, but rather a side character that you meet partway through. I really wish that the main characters in this novella had their own series. Some thing to ponder for the future?
This book follows Jasmine and Dez. They've been in love since they were young teenagers when Dez suddenly disappears with no word or warning to Jasmine. It does not help that he disappears the day after Jasmine's father set them up for marriage. Jasmine, feeling like she's been deserted, tries to move on with her life. Dez pops up back up randomly and tries to initiate marriage once again. But there's some things Jasmine wants to do before she gets married, and she's not sure she wants to marry the man who abandoned her years ago. This book is about Dez earning Jasmine's trust and Jasmine deciding if love is enough to overcome the past.
Overall I give this novella a 4/5. I did enjoy the book, the spice was very good, but I do feel like Jasmine let Dez off really easy. I assume that the reason was because they needed to keep this a novella/prequel and therefore had to make it really short and simple but I would've liked to seen a full size story out of this. I feel like the plot was good enough that it warranted a full book. I also would've liked to have seen more interaction with the wardens and the demons. I feel like that was a very interesting dynamic that we didn't get to see a lot of in this book.

Loved the insight to a different pair from this universe. Jennifer L. Armentrout just writes pure awesomeness.
