This was a nice addition to the series. It was especially fun since I've already read all of the main trilogy, so I knew how things were going to end up with the characters of this novella. And it still wasn't as predictable as I expected it to be.
Short, cute, romancey, everything you expect JLA's work to be :3

“And I’m just saying that by the end of these seven days or maybe a week from then, or a month, you’ll say yes.” He cupped my cheek and leaned in, pressing his forehead to mine. “And I’ll be waiting. No matter how long it takes.”
So amazing.
This is one of those novellas that I can read over and over and still love just as much as the full-length novels from the series. I know I can always count on JLA to get me out of a book slump. This novel did exactly what a prequel novella is supposed to do: pull you in to a new world, give you just enough background info to get the gist of the setting, introduce you to the main characters without giving too much away, and make you excited for the rest of the series. I was completely enthralled by Jas and Dez's story and fell in love with them both instantly. My only negative: I wanted more!! Great start to what I know will be a heart-wrenching series, and I can't wait to continue.
This was a cute novella. I love the concept of the gargoyles, they are used so rarely so it was a nice change from the normal. Gargoyles being wardens from evil is not a new thought but it was done well here with them fighting demons at night and being able to shift from their statue-like form into one that looks like humans.
It did have some troublesome moments, that were more on the creepy side than the romantic. Such as kissing without permission and showing up in someone's bed without their knowledge or permission. Not cool. I also hate that the trope of weak females only important for breeding is present. I do appreciate at least that the women have a chance to say no to the person requesting the mating.
From there it did get better, I love the world that is being created with the different types of demons and the places the gargoyles live. I do like both MCs I just need more about them both.
Worth reading, will definitely read on.

This was a great read. The story was cute and short. The characters were great. I want to know more about the story since I plan on reading the series now, and I am glad that this gives me a glimpse of what to expect. I wish this novella was longer, but I am sure that I will get more of it in the first book. I can't wait to read the series. Overall, a cute read.

I had been putting this series off for some reason, & now after reading this novella to jumpstart it, I honestly have no idea why. I absolutely adored this preview into a new world created by Jennifer. She never ceases to amaze me with how creative she can get within a story.
I loved this plot & how it gave you a great look inside this world but also set us up for the series as a whole by introducing Layla & Zayne. Even though their part was small, I was glad to get a little something to get me excited for the rest of the series. I really adored Dez & Jasmine & their whole relationship. I might also be a sucker for any kind of road trip & this story definitely gave me a bit of that. I loved that I could feel every emotion coming off the page.
This novella dragged me into this world & I’m ready to see what else there is in this series. Again, Jennifer continues to prove why she’s one of my favorite authors.
