Okay well I love Inej and Nina. I actually really liked this a lot, and I didn't expect to cause YA and fantasy are things I don't tend to enjoy anymore, so I was pleasantly surprised. Odd note but I really liked that Nina was described as larger but it was never once described as a negative thing - really appreciated that.

There was no need for these characters to be like 16/17 though, I pictured them as like early to mid twenties and I found that worked a lot better. Also not a huge fan of cliffhangers so a lil' bummed about that but that's just cause I don't like reading series haha

Okay additional note: these are the kinda female characters we need in fantasy

I mean that clifchanger-who could've sensed it coming, right? But I felt a hunch that something like that was being hurled my way. When there is so much drama, tension and nail biting action in a book such as SoC does, you are not surprised by anything anymore. You grow numb to the surprises and twists. The ending was not quite what I expected to be but the characters and the mood makes it a solid 5 stars. It will be interesting to see how the sequel wraps up the main storyline and what fate awaits each of the Crows. The characters and the way their back stories are written is really compelling and is what keeps the pace of the story rolling forward like a boulder.

I haven't even watched the show yet but I could perfectly envision all the cast members donning their respective characters' little quirks and traits playing in my mind. I mean I literally get it why Kaz is most people's fav lol. It is his amorality, brooding cynicism and a dangerous edge  masking his inner layer of vulnerability that makes him human. This is what makes  everyone go weak.

Kaz Brekker is one of the leaders of the gangs in Ketterdam. When he runs across an offer he cannot refuse, 30 million kruge to break someone out of prison. Kaz has a group of people that he thinks will make it happen.

Inej, the Wraith, was living in the menagerie after being kidnapped and sold into slavery. Kaz purchased her contract and now she is working to pay back the contract price. Inej has skills that come in handy. She is silent, can run, climb, and kill. She is the woman behind the man, that is Kaz Brekker.

Jesper is a gambler. He can't sit still, he loves his guns, and he loves gambling. His gambling has gotten him into a lot of trouble, and he needs the money to pay off some serious debts he has wracked up.

Wylan is an explosives expert, he is also the son of the man that made the deal with Kaz. He is useful in his ability to make things blow up, and the ability to be used as a hostage.

Nina is a heartrender, she is a Grisha with the ability to make a person's heart stop. She is extremely valuable as an ally for her ability and for her relationship to Matthias. Nina is determined to get Matthias out of prison, since she put him there.

Matthias is a Druskelle, he hunts Grisha for the crime of birth. He is in prison because he trusted Nina, even though she was everything he hates, and now he is paying the price.

Together this band of misfits must come together and achieve the impossible, get Bo Yul-Bayur out of the ice prison, while not killing each other. Love and hate are such a fine line.
