Thank you to Carly Bloom, Hatchette Audio, and NetGalley for an audio eARC of Hot Hex Boyfriend.
Normally I am all for a sweet romance, but this book just did not do it for me. While I found I enjoyed certain parts, I just felt like this southern "charm" of this book was lost on me. The aunts, grandma, and even at times the main character were a bit too sickly sweet for me. So many of their interactions felt fake and forced. I did enjoy the appearance of Max's brother. His brand of comedic relief was on point for me. I often found that just when I was enjoying a certain part of the book, the dialogue would take me back down a peg.
While this may be a great book to some, it just wasn't it for me.
2.5 stars rounded up.

I tried, but the writing and characters just didn't work for me. It sounded like a fun idea, but just wasn't executed well. The characters were very young-behaving, super insta-lovey and annoying.

For all the millennial gals who didn’t quite get their witch fix from watching Practical Magic when October hit, this is a great book option that will scratch the itch! Where there was some spice in here, there was a ton of factual talk about and different types of witches and talk of covenant, etc. I found myself a tad confused and bored at certain times tbh. All that said it was a cute festive read for October and picked up as the story progressed. This is our October read for our #LITeralhotties book club so I’m hyped to hear the girlies’ thoughts
I'm rounding up from 3.5. The book was fun and had a very Hocus Pocus / Practical Magic vibe to it. But it wrapped up way too quickly at the end.
