This is a reread for me, having first read the independently published version. There was an added prologue here and some additional scenes but I felt that a lot of the context and back story were dropped and I missed that. There were a few things that seemed choppy in reading and when I referenced the original it was because things had been cut leaving behind spaces that didn’t make as much sense on their own.
But for all that I still love this story and these two main characters, who truly fit the definition of morally gray. And of course, dragons. I can’t wait to get more of them all along with their band of found family in the next book!

I first read this July 2024 and loved it! Gave it 4 stars. Re reading before the second and it falls a little more flat. There needs better transitions between scenes.
