Love Anne being a chaotic little college student and the drama and comedy of all the various marriage proposals. Also, I’d forgotten just how sad and well-written Ruby Gillis’ death was.
I would like my daughter to be like Anne in many ways. For sure, Anne has her issues. She doesn't always know her own heart. Sometimes, she gets caught up more in the fantasy of something than the reality of it. However, she cares so much in such a profound way that you can't help but love her in the pages and out. I am so fond of this book, and I still remember how much I loved Patty's Place from such a young age. I still get it, but I get it less than I did then. Getting adultish is no fun really. This book is full of figurative language and first loves and first heartbreaks. I love it!
When I was 13, I saw the play based on this book on Prince Edward Island. It was beautiful and romantic and the reason I read Anne of Green Gables for the first time all those years ago. I never read past the first book, so I couldn’t wait to read this book and relive all the emotions I felt when I saw the play. Unfortunately, this book really disappointed me. The story is wonderful in theory, but the execution is lacking. The romance that readers are looking forward to feels forced and tired by the end of the book. Montgomery’s writing style doesn’t use a great deal of dialogue, and I think this book really suffers as a result. As a reader, I felt disconnected from Anne, as well as all of the other characters. Part of this is intentional – one theme in the book is how growing older can strain relationships (honestly, this book can be a bit of a bummer). While I appreciated the realism of the situations, it wasn’t realism that drew me into this series. As the novel progressed, Anne started to feel like a stranger to me, and it was like losing a friend. For those who choose to read this series, I would recommend stopping after Anne of Green Gables if you want to avoid disappointment and/or facing the realities of adulthood.

Buku yang ke3 ni best. Sebab dia dah cerita balik pasal anne tu. And more about adulthood dia. Pasal kerja, sambung study, and even her love life tapi love life dia sikit je la. But plot dia best. Still suka. And i really love mrs lynde dalam siri yg ni sbb nampak lebih baik kot hahahahahaha.
The ending. Finally, Anne and Gilbert. Not going to lie, I definetly rewound the ending while listening in the car, so I could hear the final scene again.

Honestly, my least favorite so far in the series. If I wasn’t listening to it on audiobook I could see myself just putting it down and forgetting to pick it back up. I thought Anne became quite unlikable, and almost like a lot of the things she said just didn’t make sense for her character? I started to like Phil more than Anne, and I thought the romance between Anne and Gilbert at the end was a tad rushed. I still adored the writing style, and I loved the new characters and the development and how everyone is grown and I wanted to cry happy tears when it was announced Diana had a baby boy :,)
I am by now utterly convinced that I was meant to be Anne in another life and live in Avonlea.
Stunningly written, the third book in the series is as lovely as the first two, as it tells us about Anne’s university life and love life. I really enjoyed this one, maybe more than “Anne of Avonlea”.
This book really illustrates so bittersweetly and beautifully both the niceties and the sorrows of growing up, and Anne will always remain a kindred spirit to me.
I initially disliked Phil, but she grew on me as the book went on and by the end I felt equally interested
in all the character’s stories.
I’m very glad that Davy and the Avonlea gossip take a major back step (it’s not that I hate them, but they refocused me from the main plot) and we get to see more of Anne, Gilbert and her college buddies.
Speaking of Gilbert… Did I forget to mention this book also has a beautiful love story?❤️
All in all, I loved this book and I’m really excited to see where these characters will go next.
