Normally, I can't get through body horror or gory books, but I couldn't put this down. Despite Maeve's depravity, I found this utterly compelling.

DNF

my ADHD combined with the edginess of the book was too much for me. Hope to re-visit.

Thank you to Tor Nightfire for the ARC of this book.

Maeve is such a delightfully twisted protagonist, I was rooting for her from start to finish!
Great evil queer representation, & graphic descriptions of all sorts of things.

Oh my god. The ending. Noooooo. Gidieon was just like her. A serial killer. But she killed him because he found her secrets in the basement. Very much so a female serial killer story. Her grandmothe  is old hollywood royalty in horror films. Grandmother is dying. Maeve works at Disney as Elsa princess. Her BFF Kate is Ana. Her brother is Gideon, a hockey player. Murder doesnt happen until about half way through, then it just spirals. Very much so echoes and rhymes with American Psycho. The ending is Gut wrenching and I found myself saying, "Nooooo!" Outloud.

This. Is. the most. Fucked up. Book. I have ever read. And it is a work of pure genius and I loved every page of it. This is not a book for everyone, it is a specific horror that I don't even think all horror lovers will vibe with. But goddamn, this truly was like a more fucked up Psycho. A more fucked up, disturbing American Psycho (IMO). Like if this was made into a movie, I don't know if I personally could handle watching it. But as a book, incredible. I couldn't even try to put this in words. Like... am I fucked up for enjoying this so much?
