3.61 AVERAGE

Nothing really happened for the first 75% of the book that you wouldn't expect, with the title of the book.
But the last quarter is incredible. Twists and turns that you don't expect due to the narrative of the character.

Many twists and turns. Overall a good read. There were times I felt things didn't quite line up with events from the beginning of the book.

I’d like to start by saying this was slightly better than 3 stars, maybe a 3.25⭐️. The book starts of slowly, but once it picked up I found myself INVOLVED. There were a few things that I didn’t like (“it’s all for Poppy. Poppy needs me.” Every damn sentence). I felt like I certainly saw the final twist coming in some way or another, and it really made me skeptical about the main character throughout the book.

Wow, it was a slow burn at first, but the ending was worth it

Maybe a 2.5 stars? It was fine, but four words gave away the ending for me.

Tiny bit predictable

I loved the short chapters and the alternating POVs in this one—it helped break things up and set a steady pace for the story.

I didn’t care for the main character, Beth, though and some of her chapters felt a bit repetitive and mundane. I would have preferred to see more chapters from Tom’s perspective—I didn’t really get the monster-like serial killer vibes from him as much as I would have expected, so his actions almost felt out of character when fully revealed in the end.

That said, this was still an enjoyable read from start to finish.

The Serial Killer's Wife is an addictive, gripping thriller following the idyllic life of Beth and Tom, a married couple living in a small town. Their whole world is turned upside down when Tom is accused of murdering his ex girlfriend, and an investigation ensues.

This novel is utterly gripping. I read it from start to finish in a few hours, unable to put it down, needing to find answers to the hundreds of questions the book poses. It is expertly written, drip-feeding small clues to keep you guessing about how much Beth knew of Tom's crimes. Multiple enigmatic twists and turns ensure your attention is held throughout, questioning every fact you have been presented with.

If you enjoy a fast-paced, well written thriller that will keep you guessing, this is the book for you!
