THE first thriller in ages that I’ve read cover to cover and rated 5 stars. This book really kept me on edge. Who do you trust?! I was certainly second guessing the characters. But there’s always one that misses the gun in that scenario which leaves you gasping for air. Why didn’t I see that coming?! Even with glasses, I’m blind as a bat…
Initially, this book starts out with the perfect family, the perfect home etc… but when the police come knocking the drama unfolds and so does the uncertainty. I think Beth is such a strong protagonist that she just makes the book all the more exciting… I’m not sure that’s the right wording but we’ll go with it. She knows what she wants & will stop at nothing until she gets it.
I can only describe this book as Desperate Housewives meets Big Little Lies.

A twisty little book, this was! The title and the synopsis give you a pretty good telling of what you’re in for here - the protagonist being a serial killer’s wife. We go through the turmoil of the husband being caught and the backlash on the wife... You never really think about the family of the killer, but this story dives deep into the mind of the wife left to pick up the pieces.

Don’t get me wrong, this is a good story and it has some fantastic unforeseeable twists and shocks which kept me reading. However, the protagonist of this story - Beth - really did grate on me and I found it very hard to feel gripped by what she was going through. That being said, I’m glad I kept reading as the ending really did change my mind. I see now, at the end of the story, how each hour, day, and decision of Beth’s life after her husband is caught ties up well. That still doesn’t stop me from being frustrated throughout!

I was not impressed by this book. It was pretty good until the final plot twist, which just… fell flat.
