This book was beautifully written. The plot and characters are really well developed and it's such an intense, sweet, emotional, and heartwarming story that feels incredibly unique. My recommendation is to go into this book as blind as possible to get the full effect and avoid spoilers as much as you possibly can. The one thing I do need to mention is that there is a pretty serious trigger warning, so if you're someone who may be worried about potentially triggering content, here it is without any contextualizing plot details:. This is my first Jennifer Hartmann book and it won't be my last. That said, I will need to read a rom-com or something as a palette cleanser.

The first third of this book was a bit slow but it got better towards the middle. It’s not as dark as the first book which I found so hard to read but it does get dark towards the very end.
