WOW- just wow. I loved this book. Like 10/10 read this before it leaves KU or pick it up on your next book run because this book is truly heartwarming and i all wrapped up into 344 pages.
The story follows a boy who went missing 22 years ago and it picks up right as he is found. I will admit the prologue to the story had me VERY CONFUSED. But once I started reading, it made alot more sense.
Sydney, a now grown women, was best friends with the boy who went missing. It was your typical “sweet home Alabama” little children in love and destined to end up together type feel - until he goes missing.
This story explores trauma and the impact it has on a person. Now do not get me wrong, there are SOOOO many things happening simultaneously in this book that will have you shook but all in all this book is great.
The writing style is very easy to follow and so in depth. Jennifer is an amazing writer and she is able to transform a story to a point where you feel personally connected to the characters . I felt the sadness, the anger, the confusion just seeping off the pages.
Definitely check the trigger warnings for this book as it does talk about some darker things as you get closer to the end.
