Loved this book and would not change a single thing! It was incredibly heartbreaking. My heart shattered for Sydney’s sister in chapter 27. So heartbreaking. It makes me cry thinking about her sister always being neglected and pushed away as kids, Sydney telling her she liked Oliver better and that’s why he was on her “team” in capture the flag, all while her little sister was just trying to get away from her molester.

I loved that Oliver was an illustrator and this was brought into the story the way it was. His graphic illustrations were buried memories of things he witnessed in his childhood and it was just BEAUTIFUL how that was done.

And OH MY GOSH such a sweet proposal at the end, how Oliver literally illustrated his proposal to Sydney and let her read it as he was proposing on their secret hill where they watched fireworks.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE SYDNEYOLIVER SO MUCH

I enjoyed the way this book was written and the way it unfolded. I kept guessing and did tie a few things together but man! It unfolded in such a unique way.

A little bit of a thriller mixed in with a love story. A good read with loveable characters and a couple surprising plot twists.

Jennifer Hartmann never disappoints - I adored this book.

The characters are all real, flawed, and loveable. Syd and Oliver are adorable and I am a sucker for childhood friendships. Syd was lovely and wonderfully patient with Oliver when he needed it, and I loved seeing him develop his sense of humour and interests as an adult for the first time.

The author also does a great job in connecting the outside characters into the plot and I found myself rooting for Syd’s sister’s wellbeing, loving her friendship with Gabe, thrilled to see Tabitha as part of the plot, and overall being so immersed into this world. Read this all in one sitting and could not put down.
