Brief Summary: At age 8, Oliver was kidnapped and told the outside world has been subject to a nuclear attack. He spent 20 years in a basement, believing that it was too dangerous to venture outside. When he finally escapes, he’s reunited with his childhood best friend Sydney, who helps him acclimate to the real world.

The Praise: I really loved Oliver; he was so sweet and unintentionally funny. His relationship with Sydney was so beautiful, and I loved that she never gave up on him. I also really enjoyed the ending.

The Critique: Honestly, my only criticism is that I hated Sydney and Clementine’s “hey hoochy” and “hey skank” greetings. It just felt very, like…edgy teenager in 2009.

Final Thoughts: I really liked this! Dark and angsty while also being sweet and funny.

Seni Still Beating- Kalp Attığı Sürece ile hatırlamak istiyorum.

After Still Beating, I was skeptical this book would measure up, but it did! I loved Sydney and Oliver’s story and how their friendship stood the test of time, evil, and all kinds of other obstacles.
