I want to give respect here because I do recognize that the plot is interesting enough. As someone who does not regularly read romances though, this was painful. Sydney’s character is aggravating on so many levels. But I’m not sure this would bug folks who are more used to the tropes(?). I liked the mystery aspect, but it wouldn’t quite push me to a 4 star here.

I would honestly be interested in what some of my friends who like thrillers and romance think. I would likely recommend it to them.

Too long. Middle was boring. Too much unnecessary conflict, main character was hard to read at times

I went in blind and wasn’t expecting the story I just finished. I couldn’t put it down!  I listened through Spotify and finished via physical book.

Oliver Lynch is an amazing character and the love he shares with Sydney is truly incredible.  I enjoyed watching them rekindle their friendship and evolve into more.  The storyline with the side characters was both interesting and heartbreaking.

I wish I had picked this one up sooner.

Was the raccoon necessary?

Immediately upon finishing this book I wanted to go back and read it for the first time again. I don’t know what Jennifer Hartmann is sprinkling into the pages of her books but WOW do they have a chokehold on me. I had extremely high expectations going into this after reading Still Beating (& if I’m being so honest I did not expect to like this nearly as much) but I was once again blown away by her work. Please don’t make me choose between the two books because I simply cannot. This filled me with so much joy, sadness, frustration, & I just fell madly in love with the characters & the story itself. I absolutely ADORED Oliver. He is forever going down in history as one of my favorite characters of all time. He is the purest soul & I am so proud of him for overcoming the TRAUMA he’s been through. The spice was undeniably HOT, Oliver is such a natural
