A little slower than the first book, but fascinating!! I loved the concept and how the author built out the Chinese civilization with dragons.
Now that the relationships have been established, this book nicely introduces conflict and an expansion of the world, cultures, and moral questions that were brought up in the first. I still love Temeraire and Laurence, and their relationship is made all the better by having to work through difficult things.

Second book syndrome to be sure. The first two thirds of this book were insurmountably boring, but the last third delightfully enough to almost compensate.
