Okay, there is something about Bukowski that speaks to me, that i can relate with. Maybe it is who i am; maybe i am a lot like him.
I'm not saying that i support the way he treats women or how he lived his whole life on booze and sex and women, and even made his characters such, but it's just something about the whole combination that appeals to me. Some part of it, for sure, is his crudity. He is ruthless, he is harsh, he is stubborn and insensitive. I am him. I am all those things and more. He is my deepest and darkest parts, thoughts. And they are happy when they read things that are similar to their being. I am happy when i read him.
I know many people often criticise him about his writing and thinking, but i love him for it. His writing resonates with those parts within you which you know are there, but you try to hide, try to ignore and dismiss, claiming that you are free of them, because they are wrong and dark and you, are pure.
But he speaks the truth.
He's slowly becoming one of my favourite authors.. Maybe it's because I'm just as insensitive and shallow minded as him.

Good. I had some difficulty with the language/typography, but otherwise enjoyed it.

It was really, really good! The book consists of many short stories on various topics ranging from totally fanciful to gritty-true-to-life type scenarios. There is NO TOPIC Bukowski won't write on! I love that about him. He's kind of my hero.

This book truly has many disgusting contents.
I've been warned about pedophilia but I wasn't ready for necrophilia as well, and to be honest that one and the murder of Ramon Vasquez shocked me the most. Too graphic!!

Another thing is the characters are too reckless. They hate working and live without thinking of any consequences. None of them face any major consequences, really, so most of the endings don't feel fulfilled at all.

i've read a few of the stories in this book and man, some are alright, some are borderline good (but not really) and others are just... not my style. i think this author is much too pessimistic for me. his outlook on life is not choosing happiness but giving up and letting life screw you in the ass. i don't agree with that. :)

I wasn't too impressed with this collection of short stories... a few were good, a few were quite frankly disgusting and most were just bland... IMO definately not Bukowski at his best.

Done with:
1. The Most Beautiful Woman in Town.
2. Kid Stardust on the Porterhouse.

I always feel like I need to bleach my brain after reading Bukowski. This was no exception. Loved every page of it.
