A girls' school for spies is missing only one thing: boys.

A fairly straightforward, light beach-read type of book, very much an excellent page turner. Meant for those days when you need the world to take itself elsewhere for a while--a bag of kettle corn, as it were.

I enjoyed this and it did exactly what it meant to do. Recommended if you need a palate refresher from the universe.

This and more @The Bathtub Reader

This was a free audio book from SyncYA - you know, the group I've pushed all summer - they are awesome! It had pretty solid reviews on GoodReads and a great premise. In the long run this was just okay for me. Cammie and her brilliant friends pose as rich girls at a prestigious school while really they are spies in training. Yes, yes, I know, it sounds so cool. Only, in real life, it just plays out as meh.

One thing though is this - I thought the book was for high school but it's more of a middle school book. If I had a daughter or my little sister was still that age I would encourage her to read this because the females are strong, smart, independent, and there's romance from a few angles - just enough to make you happy but nothing graphic. That's why this is 3 stars and not 2. If I had known this was geared toward a young audience and the reader was different it would have been a better experience.

Cammie goes on a mission with her friends and meets a boy. He's a pretty average boy but Cammie's zero experience with boys makes him a fallen star and her world is consumed by him. I, on the other hand, have a hard time remembering his name.

The girls at the academy are fun though. Brilliant and starting to explore the world beyond the massive walls that protect them. Each smart in a different area but good at teamwork and always having each others back - that is awesome. Even the girl they don't like, the girl who is forced to join to their crew but is still an outsider, well, you like her in the end. I'm a difficult person to win over, I get this strange overly, somewhat misled, loyalty thing and characters who start bad in my eyes have a VERY long road to redemption but Carter pulls it off. That alone makes make like this book more than I typically would.

I did like the end though, it was fulfilling and Carter makes you happy with things that might not always rock your boat but do here. I've heard the books get better so I might give them a try later, when I'm not as loaded down with things. I will not listen to these though - ugh, the reader changed her voice to make all the girls sound like they were in elementary school and whiny.

Re-read

I love this book. I love this series. It’s such a cosy feeling reading books from when you were a teenager and still feeling those wonderful feelings.

It’s definitely a calm introduction to the set (if I remember rightly) and lays out the characters and the story you expect to see from the rest of the series.

I'd tell you I love you, but then I'd have to kill you.

Very fun start to the series!

Read twice in middle school and I admit I have fond memories of it!

If you are looking for chick-lit, this is a go-to book. This book is totally an unputdownable book. I have been suffering from the reader's block but this book made me pull off an all-nighter after so long. This book is the first book of the series called Gallagher Girls.

Gallagher Girls is an extraordinary girl's school of spies. The main character of the book Cammie is the daughter of the headmistress and pretty much ambitious about joining the CIA in the future. In one of her class assignments, he met a normal guy named Josh. Cammie cannot reveal her true identity and again heart does not abide by school rules. So what will she do? If you want to know, you have to read the book.

I decided to read this book because I had previously read the Heist Society series and I had read a lot of good reviews about and I really enjoyed reading this book and cannot wait to get started on the next one.

Cammie is a student at Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women and also the Head teachers daughter. The Gallagher Academy is an all girls school for young spies where the girls are taught various languages and numerous ways to kill someone.

Cammie and the rest of the sophomore girls get to join the Cov Ops class and the first mission Cammie and her friends go on turns out to be a lot more complicated than they first thought, Cammie falls in love while on the mission.

Cammie has to make up stories so that she can keep on seeing him without letting it slip that she goes to Gallagher Academy. This is easy for Cammie as she is taught on how to keep a fake identity straight, her friends help her to get to know the guy by pulling off their own missions and stake outs to get dirt on the lad.

This story has a lot of great scenes that I want to write about but if I do the it will spoil it so if you have't yet read this book WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?

good series
