I first read this series when I was in high school and I loved it, but I've forgotten most of the plot so I wanted to reread it. The first book, from memory, is my least favourite. There's a lot of worldbuilding going on and it establishes characters and relationships, but for the most part it could stand apart from the rest of the series. I found myself skipping quite a few scenes because of second-hand embarrassment, but aside from that I really enjoyed it, and I'm super excited to get into the main plot of the series in the next few books.

4.5/5 stars
Either this book is REALLY that good, or nostalgia played a huge role in this rating (I'd like you to know that a 4.5 is a really really high rating) bc I remember this book being my least favorite one in the series.
Anyway, the narration here is amazing. Generally, people say a book has good writing when it's all poetic and flowery like [b:Six of Crows|23437156|Six of Crows (Six of Crows, #1)|Leigh Bardugo|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1618531219l/23437156._SY75_.jpg|42077459] or something.
But when I say that the writing is good, I mean that it sounds like the narrator is a chaotic teenager (because that actually is true in this case, and in most YA fiction.) and it just makes the MC so much more loveable and realistic.
And speaking of the MC,,,,,,,
Cammie Morgan
She's so lovable. I loved her, I still love her, and I always will. She may be one of my favorite MCs because she's the perfect mix of Badass Spy Who Can Kill You With A Piece Of Uncooked Spaghetti™ and Awkward Teenager Who Doesn't Know How To Talk To The Person She Likes™. She has so much internal conflict in this book and I think her thought process is really funny to read.
So, yeah. Even though this book isn't my favorite in the series, it was still that good. Please read it if you haven't (even if you're way past your early teens like me lol).

This book was a re-read for me as I read this series when it originally came out. I find the characters to be so fun and it’s a bit found family as well. It was perfect pacing and the epilogue makes you excited for book #2.
I picked up this book because it had a cute cover. The book itself was pretty good, but it had very many cliche ideas and patterns. The writing style was good. This book is definitely not a very realistic book and at points it even bordered on being sexist toward males. That is just my opinion though and I'm a girl haha. Actually, in the second book, I think that it corrected itself. It drew me in enough for me to have read the second book. Anyway, if you want a light, fun read I would recommend it.
I first read this book years ago, and I always return to this series as one of my all time favorites! I love Cammie and her adventures, all brought to life by Ally Carter's fantastic skills. Definitely a do not miss read!
I’m too old for this book. It was fun to read but it felt like so many parts just skipped and jumped that I didn’t know what happened
honestly it was just boring. i thought it would pick up, but it did not and there was no real conflict
Ally Carter is an absolutely amazing writer and this whole teenage spy idea is magnificent. I love it and i am itching to reread it soon.
