Male skewing in its verbiage. And just a few oddities here and there (keeping people “without knowledge and without desire”). But ultimately, one of the most vital and impactful books I’ve ever read. With so much that I align with in terms of politics, leadership, violence/weaponry, anti competitiveness and masculinity. I hope to keep re-reading it, practice it’s core principles and hopefully, slowly incorporate them into my daily life

“Be a leader, not a butcher!
This is called hidden virtue”

“To find peace is to fulfill ones destiny,
To fulfill ones destiny is to be constant.
To know the constant is called insight.”

“It is in the nature of a military weapon to turn against its wielder.”

“The highest form of goodness is like water. Water knows how to benefit all things without striving with them.”

Stephen Mitchell's translation of the Tao Te Ching is nothing short of amazing. It is simple and pure distilled with Lao Tzu's insights and wisdom. I have read this several times and each time it brings new meaning to living life. I highly recommend Stephen Mitchell's translation of Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching.

Very poetic and cryptic writing with segments of profound wisdom. Difficult to really grasp on the first read, highly recommend reading multiple times and marking down certain pages.
