I don't know what I can say about Audre Lorde and her writing that hasn't already been said, but damn. She was- and is- incredible. This was my first time reading a full collection of her work, and I couldn't stop underlining things and making notes on nearly every page. She doesn't sacrifice her poetry in writing any speech, letter, or essay--you can tell she's a poet, it infuses every piece (but not in a way that takes away from the points she's trying to get across).

Sister Outsider contends with a lot: racism, sexism, homophobia, internal struggles, parenting, imperialism, and through everything, the particulars that Black women in the united states face and hold within them. The way she presents her arguments made me think deeply about all of these issues and more, about the emotional states we go through the world in--anger and how we use it, beauty, tenderness, weaponized misunderstanding, etc. Everything about her writing is just so good. I want to read this over and over.

so so insightful, i learned so much
