I hate when an author goes out of her way to give her characters unusual names - it seems so contrived and doesn't ring true to me - like Cannie instead of Candy as a nickname for Candace. ANYWAY . . .

Annoying details like Cannie's becoming real, true friends with the movie star and her sale of her screenplay aside, the story itself was well done. Her obsession with her loser ex-boyfiend and weight and self-esteem issues were handled well.

A total waste of time!!!

Beach read. Thought ending was predictable.

This book was not what I expected at all. I really enjoyed it. I loved the flawed heroine and the fact that she knew she was flawed and how she learned to accept herself. This book was a nice surprise -- I am glad that I read it.

I liked this book because it wasn't predictable. It starts off as a light-hearted and funny read and takes a more serious tone near the middle. Don't get me wrong it is still a light read it just.........isn't all fun and games. I could relate to the main character a great deal and had a good time reading this book.

There is so much I love about this book. Cannie is well written - complex and beautiful in all her (mostly) perceived flaws. A great love story doesn't have to be the one you first thought and it can reach so far beyond a romantic love. But the book is too long in my opinion. Or else it would have been a clear 4 star book. It would probably have been that if I had chosen to listen to the abbreviated version.

You just might hug this book when you're done. At some points I wanted Weiner to get on with it and stop rambling, but then I realized it was just like life and I do the same thing. The story will make you happy to be just the way you are.
