Disturbing, gross, profoundly bitter - and fucking hilarious.

Certainly not for everyone but most certainly right up my alley heh.

The Patrick Melrose Novels are a splendid and sordid example of the next generation of Waugh's Vile Bodies who still feel cheated out of their Handful of Dust. Like Waugh, St. Aubyn knows his subjects and their world well. This book, which is a compilation of the first four novels, is so witty and honest that the repulsiveness of the characters is tolerable. It serves as validation for us in the 99% that being rich, or having been rich, can make you an awful person with a miserable life of navel-gazing. Yet that gaze provides some wonderful opportunities for self-deprecating one-liners, and Patrick Melrose is a master. I can't wait to read At Last, which is the final installment in the series.

Una lettura incredibile, un viaggio emozionante, doloroso ma anche coinvolgente e divertente. Un’ironia pungente e una prosa di una raffinatezza
A dir poco rara. Personaggi stravaganti e incredibilmente vivi, impossibili da dimenticare.
Un vero capolavoro che consiglio a tutti.

Brilliant. Gorgeous. Tragic. Exhilarating. Five of the best books I've ever read.

I read these a few weeks ago and generally enjoyed them for their quick wit and thoughtful (if painful) observations on the ways in which your parents/other social structures can really mess you up. Unsurprisingly, I really enjoyed the third installment for its brilliant and caustic send up of high society.

Loved the book. Loved the series.

Enjoyed book and the show.
